Aeolian Sky + Black Hawk Drift
Aeolian Sky – 30m to seabed. 10.715 ton Greek cargo and container motor vessel, built 1978. 490ftx72ft. General cargo in holds and on deck, dangerous chemicals in drums, leaving London for Dar-es-Salaam. Sunk on 4 November 1979, when in tow after collision with West German MV Anna Knuppel, which holed her in Number 1 hold. All crew were saved. Rumours say Aeolian Sky was carrying, next to Land Rovers and general cargo, more than a £1 million in Seychelles rupee bank notes in strongboxes in the sickbay, near the funnel.
