The Baygitano wreck, located just off Lyme Regis, is a well-known dive site sitting in approximately 16–22 metres of water, making it suitable for a wide range of qualified divers.
About the Baygitano Wreck
The SS Baygitano is a historic World War One steamship that was torpedoed in 1918 and now lies on the seabed as a fascinating dive site rich in marine life and structure.
Divers can expect:
- Boilers, engine remains, and wreckage to explore
- Abundant marine life including shoals of fish
- A relatively shallow and accessible wreck dive
- Ideal conditions for both training and enjoyable recreational diving
This wreck is often considered a perfect second dive or training wreck, offering great visibility and manageable depth for most certified divers .
